On Monday and Tuesday next week the first Swiss barshow will have its premiere in the city of Winterthur. This new bar trade show is organized by Ruedi Zotter, editor of Swiss magazine Barnews and is targeting bartenders, food & beverage managers, restaurateurs and suppliers.
The Swiss World Bar comes with an extensive program. Among the renowned speakers are spirits expert Jürgen Deibel (Deibel Consultants), Mauro Mahjoub (Negroni, Munich), Markus Blattner (Widder Bar, Zurich), Oliver von Carnap (Trinkhalle, Munich), Peter Roth (Kronenhalle, Zurich), Chandra Kurt (wine writer) and Stefan Stevancsec (Barbrain, Linz).
On the evening of September 22nd the ceremony for the "Swiss Bar Awards" marks the end of the biggest event for the Swiss bar industry. This year there is a new category for "Best Longseller Bar" in recognition of a place that has been an "in-place"for at least 10 years. The ceremony in Club Bolero Winterthur will see awards handed out for: Barkeper of the Year 2009, Best Newcomer 2008/2009 and Best Bar Menu 2009.
