It took a while until I got the results of the Spirit Awards 2008 at Tales of the Cocktail in New Orleans. Where I got a couple of emails every day before the Tales, filling me in about events etc. my account wasn’t hit by a single one after this great convention. I guess the organizers must have been a bit tired and worn out after a week of cocktailing. Something I can understand, if I think of our own event in September: Bar Convent Berlin.

Ann Tuennermann has finally send me the list of winners. I found out, that I’ve obviously made a mistake in announcing "Best New Bar" for Le Lion in Hamburg. Joerg Meyer’s venue won "World’s Best Cocktail Bar". Even more prestigious! The Spirit Awards are the most global industry awards at the moment. So once again: our congratulations to the winners! And keep up the good work!

Update (1) 12:14 pm: As Stephan Berg commented in our German blog there must be a few mistakes in that list. Best Drinks Brand Representative is allegedly Xavier Padovani for Hendrick’s Gin and Bar Le Lion indeed "Best New Cocktail Bar". I’m waiting for this to be clarified, until I change it above.

Update (2) July 30th, 2008: Simon Difford, who led the jury committee, has confirmed the changes I’ve made above. I know this looks heavily edited, but what can I do….blogger ethics.

That’s very surprising. Is that the final result?

Ann Tuennermann sent me another list a couple of hours ago with the same wrong results. I don’t really understand, why there is such a lack of information. At the end of the day, the jury members took time and effort, to put down suggestions and nominations.
