Ten Table Launch in Berlin

Last Monday Tanqueray No. Ten Gin invited ten leading bartenders from Germany, Switzerland and Austria (GSA) to the first Ten Table at the Lebensstern Bar in Berlin.

During their inaugural meeting they founded the GSA Tanqueray Guild as the first national spin-off of the international Tanqueray Guild.

The founding fathers Thomas Pflanz (Lebensstern Bar, Berlin), Stefan Gabanyi (Schumann’s, Munich), Dietmar Pötscher (Loos Bar, Vienna), Erich Wassiczek (Halbestadt Bar, Vienna), Markus Blattner (Widder Bar, Zurich), Thomas Huhn (Les Trois Rois, Basel), Ricardo Albrecht (Shepheard Bar, Cologne), Michael Mattersberger (Swiss Bar Forum, Bern), Mario Grünenfelder (Tausend, Berlin) und Jörg Meyer (Le Lion, Hamburg) will now act as ambassadors on behalf of the Martini Cocktail, king of all cocktails and will meet on regular bases in their bars in order to create the Perfect Ten Martini.

Thomas Pflanz, host to the inaugural meeting, did set benchmarks with his idea of a Perfect Ten Martini. He matched each dish of the evening’s dinner with corresponding martini cocktails, whilst his Perfect Ten Martini made of Tanqueray No. Ten, Corenwyn, Lillet Blanc and an apple- and horseradish reduction accompanied the main course of prime boiled beef.

Guest of honor that night was Brian Miller, Bartender at Death & Co. in New York and one of the founding fathers of the international Tanqueray Guild. He talked about the international launch in London and also presented his take on the Perfect Ten Martini using Tanqueray No. Ten, Noilly Prat, Strega and a grapefruit twist.

The Tanqueray Guild has, whilst on the quest for perfection, also commited themselves to an intensive exchange of knowledge. The meetings will feature presentations of the individual bars’ concepts as well as guest speakers and guided bar tours to get an insight of the local bar scene.

The next meeting will take place in Switzerland in October.
