We just received a press release from Bacardi Ltd., announcing that Seamus McBride (53) an experienced business leader and former vice-president of Colgate-Palmolive will be the new president and chief executive officer of the largest privately-owned spirit company as of September 1st.
His predecessor Andreas Gembler (65) leaves the company and goes into retirement. Gembler has increased revenues yearly, making it a challenging task to succeed him.
Bacardi wants to keep up the strategy of positioning itself in the premium segment of the spirit market. This can clearly be seen in the recent acquisition of shares of two fast-growing brands in the US market, the Cachaca brand Leblon and Patron Tequila, the latter obviously the fastest growing tequila brand worldwide according to the MiamiHerald.
